Pensacola’s Roy Jones set to make fight #75 his last

PENSACOLA, Fl. (WKRG) – Pensacola’s Roy Jones boxing career will finally be coming to an end with his 75th and last fight.

Roy is 49-years old and will fight Scott Sigmon. News 5 spoke with Roy on Friday in the gym as he trains for the final chapter of his great fight career.

The fight is set for February 8th in his hometown of Pensacola. Jones is 65 and 9 with 47 KO’s. He admits most champs don’t go a half a century in the ring.

Jones says, “Bernard Hopkins, maybe George, maybe Larry Holmes, but not many guys have gone as long. It use to be 35 was an old guy, 36 was a fossil, but to be 49 is incredibly amazing. Says a lot about the sport and a lot about us who do the sport the right way.”
